蒙特利莎中学院校介绍

MountElizaHighSchoolwasestablishedonthissiteinFebruary,1975withMrsDSherringham,asthefirstPrincipaltogetherwith16teachers,69Year8and124Year7students.Theschoolwashousedinonepermanentbuildingandmanyportables.

Itwasfortunate,thatinthemid1970stheEducationDepartmentwaspreparedtoconstructbuildingsandfacilitiesofsuperiordesign,sizeandconstruction.Successiveblockswereadded.InJune,1977,MrLindsayThompson,MinisterforEducation,officiallyopenedtheCollege.

TheCollegewaslocatedinapicturesquesiterichinnativevegetation.Withthemottoof"Protect"astheideal,thegroundshavebeendeveloped,improvedandmaintainedatacommendablelevel.

MrsMargaretMajorwasappointedasPrincipalinFebruary,1979.Atraditionofhighachievementwasestablished.Thishasbeensustainedandbuiltuponthroughoutsuccessiveyears.TheCollegecontinuedtoattractteacherswhosethighstandardsandhadtheabilityandcommitmenttoelicitworkofqualityfromourstudents.

InSeptember1985MrsMajorretiredasPrincipalandMrRodOgilviewasappointed. Fromtheearliestdaystheschoolpromotedextra-curricularandco-curricularactivities.Ourstudentsforgedacommendablerecordinsportingcompetitions,dramaticandmusicalperformancesandinawidevarietyofotherinter-schoolcompetitions.

Atthestartof1993MrCharlesCattermolewasappointedactingPrincipaluntilMrAndrewBlair'sappointmentintermtwo1994. DuringMrBlair'stermasPrincipalanumberofchangestookplaceincludingthebuildingofthe'Atrium'andnewDesignBlockarea.

MrJohnKeysers,thesixthPrincipaloftheCollegewasappointedinApril2003untilSeptember2008. MrKeysershadalonghistoryattheschoolpriortothisasaScienceteacher,VCECo-ordinatorandAssistantPrincipal.

MsYvonneWattswasActingPrincipalfromSeptember2008untiltheappointmentofMrsHeatherWorrallasActingPrincipalinJanuary2009.

MrGeoffPetrie,aformerteacherandAssistantPrincipalattheCollegeformanyyearswasappointedtothePrincipalpositioninJuly2010.

TheCollegeiscoeducationalandcatersforapproximately1000students,thevastmajorityofwhomcomefromthelocalprimaryschools.TheCollegeenjoysastrongtraditionofhighretentionratesandacademicexcellence.

ThedivisionoftheCollegeintothreesub-schoolsallowstheclosemonitoringofeachstudent'sprogress.Thisstructure,combinedwithaclearlydefinedandimplementedstudentmanagementpolicy,ensuresacaringandnurturingapproachtoallstudents.Thecompulsoryschooluniformatalllevelscomplementsthispolicy.

MountElizaSecondaryCollegeenvisionstheconstructiveuseofICTacrossallKeyLearningAreas.Itseesthisas;providingstudentsandstaffwithacontinuityacrossthecurriculum,skillstobecomeactiveandindependentlearnersandleaders,enhancingtheirabilitiestocommunicate,collaborate,plan,*yseandsolveproblems,developingskillsintheuseofnewtechnologiesandsupportingstudentsandstafftoassumegreaterresponsibilityfortheirownlearning.

TheCollegehasover300computersacrossthesite.Allcomputersarefullynetworked,supportedbyprinting,internet,intranetandemailservicesavailabletoall.Eachstudenthasanetworkdrivewhichtheycanaccessatschoolandathome,togetherwithaccesstotimetables. Communicationandotherfacilitiesinclude:
